Over 500 cops get ready to fight crime with a mouse

Decreasing cyber crime just received an improvement in the capital as 588 investigating officials from various police areas have completed their training. They will be part of cyber teams created in every police station. Also, 126 inspectors, 287 sub-inspectors, and 336 lower subordinates have been trained to form cyber cells in all police zones.

A cyber team would have an inspector (investigation), two SIs and two lower subordinate staff (constable or head constable). Among the team members, excluding the inspector, would be a woman.
Posting of officials to these teams would be done by the district DCPs. In circumstance a vacancy arises in the team, the SHO would be in charge of filling up it up.

“All internet crimes pertaining to the jurisdiction of a law enforcement station would be dealt with by that team. Yet the SHO may also get those investigated by other officers. And when that occurs, the team would provide technical assistance”,  said a senior police officer.

Every police district would also have an internet cell to investigate all types of cyber crimes such as hacking, cheating, social media complaints and so on “The cell would check out complaints forwarded by the district DCP, ” said an officer.

Special CP (Crime) Taj Hasan said Delhi Police was looking towards holding more centralized training by the Economic Accidents Wing so that more personnel could investigate specialized cases. “We are concentrating on capacity building. With modi operandi becoming more advanced, policemen need sharp skills, ” Hasan said.
