In China, built the first commercial quantum communication network

Tests of quantum communication devices are constantly being tested in many parts of the world. It would seem that all this will not come soon after the experiments, but, as the Xinhua news agency reports, China has completed the creation of the country’s first commercial, super-secure quantum communication network. Commissioning is planned in the very near future.
Scientists from the Institute of Quantum Technologies of the Chinese city of Jinan in Shandong province are responsible for the development. A new quantum communication network will be used to connect users from the government of Jinan City. A bit later, it will be connected to a similar network, which will also link Beijing and Shanghai. Thus, China will have one of the largest quantum networks in the world.
Specialists of the Institute of Quantum Technologies of Jinan City just two months ago completed the necessary tests and prepared the network for launch. Scientists said that during the tests, good results were obtained, especially in the field of data transmission security and telephone calls. The use of quantum technologies has made the network completely immune from intrusion from the outside.
It is worth mentioning that at the moment China is one of the leaders in the field of using quantum technologies. So, in the country since 2012, there is an experimental quantum network, and in the past, in 2016, China launched the world’s first quantum satellite. With its help, Chinese specialists were given the opportunity to conduct tests on the transmission of communication codes using photons.
