Bihar cops flout IT Act in Investigation

PATNA: Bihar law enforcement officials flout the Information Technology(IT) act 2008 which probing cyber crime cases in states. The Economic offenses unit (EOU) IG JS Gangwar that pointed it out when speaking at a function during the law enforcement officials Week celebrations last week.

According to section 78 the IT act, the law enforcement officials has been ranked under this Act. But Bihar law enforcement officials having already overburdened i.e, not sufficient no to deal with the cases related to cyber criminals offenses.

DGP P K Thakur said the EOU that conduct the courses for making law enforcement officials aware of the IT Act and case investigation. The DGP said, “SIs and ASIs immediately take up the cybercrime cases for investigation, but later these are transferred to inspector-rank officers,”.

“Patna and Muzaffarpur are the two cities that are on the top of cyber criminals cases and it is handed by sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors for investigation,”.

The state law enforcement officials are personnel to deal with cyber criminals. The mostly cyber criminals are related to fraudulent online transactions, defined as cashless loot and this is increasing tremendously in Bihar.

An Intelligence Bureau((IB) officers with the global cyber criminals experts and frauds which are roped in from Delhi during the Police Week to impart knowledge on cyber criminals.

The IB officers informed to law enforcement officials about the server and the US was hacked on 27th Jan. The law enforcement officials area lost their all data that was hacked by a hacker.

The hacker transacted $US90 million successfully from the account of Bangladesh Central Bank across five different transactions but a similar group failed to hack a Mumbai-based Indian bank due to higher cyber security system installed in their system.
