Intel touts bug rewards to hardware hackers:

By Prempal Singh 0 Comment March 21, 2017

Web page and Intel Security (McAfee) products excluded from ‘Wild West’ payouts scheme.

Intel has launched its first bug reward program, offering rewards of up to $30, 000.

The processor chip maker has partnered with specialist bug reward costume HackerOne to make a scheme that aims to encourage hackers to search for a defect in Intel’s hardware, firmware, and software. Intel will probably pay up to $30, 000 for critical hardware vulnerabilities (less for firmware or software holes). The more severe the impact of the unprotected and the harder you should mitigate, the bigger the payout.

Bug rewards have become a popular part of the infosec ecosystem over recent years, with software dealer such as Google and Microsoft company leading the charge. Above time, a greater range of vendors has signed up within.

Intel Security (McAfee) products are not in-scope of the Intel insect reward program. Flaws in third-party products and open-source code are also over and above the compass of the scheme. Intel’s web system is excluded.
