Documents of complainant’s 3 friends also infiltrated; cyber cellular asks for URL that victim cannot access.
The surge in cybercrime instances bears witness to the fact that hacking into social media profiles has become widely prevalent. On March 13, a Bibwevadi resident’s Facebook account was hacked into and the charged has also been getting in touch with his friends and infiltrated 3 accounts of his friends as well.
The complainant, Rounak Shetty, had signed up a complaint with Pune’s cyber crime cell immediately. The accused has also recently been sending lewd messages to some of his feminine friends and relatives, including his sister.
Shetty instantly got a message from the hackers, pretending to be one of his Facebook friends, to deliver to her the code he previously received. In a hurry for work, he did not even think carefully and forwarded the message. “I didn’t give it another thought when my friend messaged expressing that due to some difficulties with her Fb account, she was emailing a code to my phone to reset her password. It had been later when I got a call from another friend who had received vulgar emails from my account that we realized what had occurred, ” Shetty shared.
On March 17, three days after he had signed up a complaint with the cyber cell, a FIR was going to be submitted in his name in Mumbai by someone who had received a naked image from him. Fortunately, he knew the sibling of the complainant and could describe his way out of it. “I can’t say for sure the intention of the hacker. He messaged a few of my friends, informing them that he works with a production company in Mumbai and can offer them a job. With a few others, this individual spoke inappropriately and delivered them vulgar images, very well said, Shetty.
Sunil Pawar, head of cyber crime cellular, told Mirror, “In instances like this, we need to send the link of the account to Facebook and get details from them so that we can investigate. This often takes over a month. ”
Commenting on the number of similar instances, he said, ” the Last yr, the cyber cell registered 2,000 cases, 600 which were on Facebook hacking or fake accounts. Usually, it turns out that the accused is known to the victim, therefore the last mentioned does not register a complaint. People usually accomplish this out of enmity.
