The future of engineers graduating in internet security searching for glowing as rising threat to businesses is causing a huge demand for such students. Despite poor overall recruitments in the IT sector, the need to protect the vulnerable cyberspace is landing students ‘highly lucrative offers’. Actually, each graduate has an average of five offers waiting around for them, say industry insiders.

“Along with the big and small ones, even start-ups are enrolling cyber security professionals. The demand for data security is being raised even by clients, apart from the companies’ own matter to protect critical data. Thus, the demand for cyber security engineers is growing exponentially, ” said Sundeep Kumar Makthala, creator of TITA (Telangana Information Technology Association).

When newer technologies like robotisation, machine-to-machine learning and AI (Artificial intelligence) are eliminating the need for lower end and mid-level engineers, internet security one the other side of the or maybe hand is being recommended to stay unaffected. “No amount of automation can replace the physical existence of a cyber security expert in companies. Since internet threat is ever changing and ever evolving, whether it is in the form of malware or virus, it needs to be appeared out for constantly, ” said a senior standard from a top IT company.

The average starting salary even for freshers who take cyber security as a subject runs from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. For engineering graduates in most other fields, it ranges from Rs 2. 5 lakh to Rs 3. 6 lakh. Presently an estimated 2,000-3, 000 engineering students, who study cyber security either as a core course or as an optionally available course, graduate in the location every year.

“Going by the hiring trend at our college, 5 to 10 jobs are being offered to students who have a core area expertise in cyber security. The demand for experts in online vigilance, internet security, and big data analytics has easily trebled in the last one year, ” added A Govardhan, dean, JNTU College of Information Technology.
