India working with 15 countries for cooperation in information exchange on cyber crimes

India is working with 15 countries for cooperation in information exchange on internet crimes and related issues in law enforcement.

In reaction to a question, Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir told the Lok Sabha, “India is working for bilateral cooperation with around 15 countries for exchange info and data relating to cyber crimes and related cooperation in law enforcement. ”

“As every, the information provided by Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology, a total number of 155, 164, 199 and 39 websites of main ministries/departments and state government were hacked during the year 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 (up to February) correspondingly, ” the Minister said.

The Minister said the Government has constituted an Expert Group to analyze the gaps and challenges in handling cyber crimes in the country and put together a roadmap for dealing with the issue effectively besides providing suggestions on all aspects of the domain.

“Based on the suggestions of the Expert group, the Cyber Crime Prevention against Ladies and Children plan has been approved by the government, ” he said.

The Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Kids scheme seeks to arrange up an online internet crime reporting platform, internet forensic training-cum-laboratories in States/Union Territories, Research and development (R&D) facilities and capacity building in police force companies against cyber crime across the country.

Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre plan has been positioned before the competent authority for appraisal, Ahir added.
