How to install Tor Browser in Ubuntu Operating System

Tor is free software for enabling anonymous communication.  TOR stands for The Onion Router and Onion routing is implemented by encryption in the application layer of a communication protocol stack, nested like the layers of an onion. And now launching updated version of TOR is 5.5.3.

Tor browser 5.5.5 Changelog:

  • Update Tor launcher to 0.2.7.9
  • Updated Firefox to 38.8.0 ESR which features important security updates
  • NoScript was updated to version 2.9.0.11
  • Add new default of bridge (Greenbelt)
  • HTTPS-Everywhere updated to 5.1.6

Install Tor Browser on Ubuntu 16.04 via PPA (Personal Package Archive)

Open a terminal window and run the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/tor-browser

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install tor-browser

Then just go to search and type TOR and you can run your Tor Browser:
