Hacking during the World Cup: The Central Bank will save from Cybercrime –

Hacking During the world cup FIFA

The Central Bank compiled a list of cybersecurity measures for citizens and private credit organizations for the duration of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In the near future, the recommendations will be translated into English, so that foreigners can read them.

The subdivision of the Central Bank FinCERT published a briefing on information security. These recommendations concern the protection against computer attacks in the sphere of the banking information structure: financial organizations, as well as ATMs and POS-terminals for bank cards.

Experts advise:

  • set complex passwords, at least 8 characters long, to abandon typical combinations like qwerty or password;
  • to inspect devices (terminals, ATMs, etc.) for extraneous technical devices (shimmers);
  • regularly update the software on computers and other devices;
  • to install antivirus software and up-to-date database updates;
  • use anti-commerce lining in payment terminals;
  • unobtrusively install CCTV cameras.

In case of a problem or an attempted break-in, contact the Center for Monitoring and Responding to Computer Attacks in the Credit and Financial Sphere.

Citizens who will be in the country during the World Cup 2018, the Central Bank recommends being careful while making payments using a mobile device and a bank card, paying attention to foreign objects on the ATM case, not entering IDUs in the presence of strangers and not accepting help from their side.

According to the Central Bank, such measures will help prevent cyber fraud.

Earlier it became known that for the time of the World Championships in several cities of Russia the work of some enterprises will be suspended. This issue is handled by the FSB, and the agency sent letters to all organizations that need protection from cybercriminals in order to prevent data leakage.
