German cyber security watchdog increase attack alert level

Germany has raised its aware level against cyber problems to “heightened readiness” in front of parliamentary elections, saying federal government websites are already uncovered to daily assault relating to reports.

“We are noticing attacks against federal government networks on a daily basis, ” Arne Schoenbohm, president of Germany’s Federal government Office for Information Protection (BSI), told the newspapers Welt am Sonntag.

BSI is in close contact with election officials, politics parties, and German federal government states to talk about how to guard against cyber problems and stands prepared to respond to potential attacks in front of the elections, Mr. Schoenbohm said.

The newspaper did not give details of the number and types of alert levels but said the level has recently been raised since cyber problems interfered in the US presidential election.

BSI could not immediately be got for comment. It can be scheduled to hold a press conference in Hanover on Monday at CeBIT, Germany’s most significant gross annual technology seminar.

The president of Germany’s BfV domestic intelligence service, Hans-Georg Maassen, warned at the end of Feb that industrialized countries were becoming increasingly vulnerable to cyber attacks as industry enhances the adoption of digital technologies.
