It may be bad news for few WhatsApp users! The company is ending support to a number of devices which will no much longer be capable of running WhatsApp from December 31. That means if you are right now using old smartphones then you require to replace it right before the year 2016 ends.
As we all know WhatsApp is among the most popular messages services that are currently used by more than 95% of smartphone owners in India. There is a great news too! WhatsApp will not prevent users having old mobile phones. But, users will not get upcoming features.
As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:
- BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
- Nokia S40
- Nokia Symbian S60
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
- Windows Phone 7.1
- iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
WhatsApp in your blog said, “This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order and give people better ways to hook up with friends and family using WhatsApp”.
So if you are using the old android phone then upgrade your Smartphone such as Android, iPhone or Windows Phone to continue using WhatsApp after 31 December 2016.
