The South Korean government has admitted that its relates to internet military command was hacked last month by inserting malicious codes into one of its main redirecting servers. Yet, authorities say the opportunity of any data theft is low as the military intranet was not linked to the targeted server.
“A malicious code has recently been determined and it seems to obtain taken good thing about the vulnerability of the redirecting server, ” Kim Jin-pyo, a lawmaker told Yonhap news agency. “In a cautious measure, the storage space has been separated from the network. ”
The targeted server was a security buffer for computer systems that the military experienced specifically allotted for Internet-connection purpose. Nearly 20,000 military computers were linked to the server at the time of harm.
An official investigation has begun into the crack and its origin. Among those suspected, the first finger is being directed at the North. The South has accused the North of focusing on strengthening its cyber combat capability over time in addition to the past blamed them of numerous hacks like the Elemental plant and subway system hacks.
“North Korea started out to train its internet warriors while developing elemental arms in the early on 1990’s and today commands one particular, 700 highly trained and specialized hackers, ” Cho Hyun Chun, chief of South Korea’s Defense Protection Command had said before.
To prevent these removes Seoul has established their own defense cyber control command word, where it trains the brightest minds, to take on what it phone calls superior state-sponsored hackers.
