The developer, under the pseudonym Specter, published an exploit on the GitHub portal for the Playstation 4 game console with the firmware version 4.05, which allows executing arbitrary code and jailbreaking the console.
As follows from the developer’s statement, the exploit namedobj for the PlayStation 4 with the firmware version 4.05 allows you to run arbitrary code and make changes to the system at the kernel level.
Jailbreak is strongly associated with hacking copy protection, allowing pirated software to work on devices. However, at the same time, people can run on such devices programs developed by third-party developers for purposes that do not violate copyright law.
According to the expert, namedobj does not contain code related to circumvention of the mechanisms of protection against piracy. The exploit includes a boot loader that allows you to receive payload through port 9020 and then execute it. The developer also posted a test payload that the user can download after launching the exploit to access the debug menu.
