A search service for monitoring sites in a darknet has been detected

By Prempal Singh 0 Comment September 16, 2017

Search service Ichidan allows you to search for vulnerable sites on the Tor network.

Journalists of the Bleeping Computer site have discovered a new darknet portal Ichidan, working similarly to the search engine Shodan. Ichidan allows you to search for hidden services on the Tor network using multiple filters.

Journalists applied for expert opinion to security investigator Victor Gevers (Victor Gevers) and he was struck by what he saw. Using Ichidan, Gevers was able to identify security problems on the darknet sites in minutes. As an example, the researcher showed a site that had a lot of ports open for external connections. According to the researcher, having this information can successfully carry out the brute force attack.

This site had open ports for Telnet and SSH connections. One of the ports was connected to a web server built into Fritzbox routers, which can speak either about the intentional placement of the .onion site on the router’s web server, or about compromising someone else’s device for hosting the site.In general, sites in the Tor network should not disclose so much information, as this can compromise the location and identity of the owner of the website.

According to the report of the organization Mascherari Press, the number of sites in darknet for the last year has decreased from 30 thousand to about 4 thousand resources. With the help of Ichidan service it was possible to confirm this data.

Shodan is a search engine that can be used to find devices connected to the Internet and accurate information about various web sites.
