Microsoft’s actions in the antivirus market have recently attracted attention. This is facilitated by the May-scale applications of extortion attack WannaCry complaint and Kaspersky Lab to the antitrust authorities of the European Union.

The Russian company accused Microsoft of disabling its antivirus on Windows-based computers and the use of a dominant position for the aggressive promotion of its own counsel Windows.

On this issue in Microsoft blog article appeared. Rob Lefferts of Windows Enterprise and Security Division is not talking about Kaspersky Lab directly, instead, it protects the practice of installing their own anti-virus in Windows. According to him, it is required to provide the promised users real-time protection of Windows 10 viruses and malicious software.

It also explains disable third-party antivirus software. Microsoft says that 95% of computers have Windows 10 compatible with Windows 10 Creators Update antivirus software, but a small number need to be updated to work with the latest version of the system. Windows 10 prompts you to install new versions of antivirus software after its renovation but disables older versions in case of incompatibility. We are talking about temporary and Microsoft talks about working with anti-virus vendors on the necessary updates and compatibility.

Kaspersky Lab also accused Microsoft of not enough time to test the latest versions of Windows 10 for compatibility with antivirus software. At Microsoft, of course, do not think so and mention Microsoft Virus Initiative program, under which the company is working with more than 80 third-party antivirus applications. It provides partners early build of Windows and the necessary technical guidance. Under this program, Microsoft provides third-party vendors deeper access to the Windows development process than ever before.

Now representatives of the European regulators to decide whether there are sufficient grounds to begin an antitrust investigation against Microsoft.
