New Delhi, April 11 (IANS) India supports better international cooperation in cyber security to fight against growing cyber crime and internet terrorism, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

Going to bilateral meetings in Philippines during G20 Digital Ministers meeting on Digital Economic climate, he said India is also of the view that multi-stake holders model is a good option for the spread of digitalisation and that a border should not be an obstacle when it comes to mobility of experts and information, according to an official statement here.

Bilateral engagements were managed with representatives of the Russian federation, Indonesia, Germany, Britain, Spain, Singapore, China, Saudi Persia, S. Africa and the World Telecommunication Union.

The G20 Ministers expressed their warm appreciation for the achievements of the Digital India program. They noted how Digital India is provisioning a unique digital identification – cheaply, securely, and with privacy – to 1. 1 billion residents through Aadhaar, said a press release by the Electronics and IT Ministry.

About the Indian government’s drive towards Digital India, Prasad said: “Digital technologies and the internet, which represents a few of the finest creations of your mind are today a ‘global common good’; which we can funnel for bridging the digital divide, empowering and increasing the quality of life for our citizens.”

Emphasizing how India is advancing in the knowledge economy by catalyzing development, he said: “We believe innovation is key to our success as a digital economy. India today has one of the most vibrant startup environments with over 4,500,000 startups annually working in emerging technology areas including IoT, data analytics, Block Chains and machine learning. “Many of these online companies are also in the forefront of developing methods to many of our grand challenges in areas such as health insurance and education.”
