The city police on Sunday caught a 42-year-old man for trolling a Jaipur-based girl following the latter made a remark on Twitter about gymnast Dipa Karmakar. The police used a private IT and Cyber Security expert and composed to Twitter headquarters to track the accused.
The accused has been determined as Rajesh Panwar (42), a native of Pawanpuri area in Bikaner. Based on the police, 26-year-old Saudamini Deo, a writer surviving in Jagatpura locality, had tweeted on August 14 about gymnast Dipa Karmakar: “Tonight, the girl is going to associated risk her life to earn an Olympic medal. A lot more not well worth any medal, for any damned country”.
Later, the girl was trolled over Tweets, with a few of them using abusive dialect and threatening to invective her modesty. The female then sought the assistance of Union external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj, who spoke to Rajasthan Chief minister Vasundhara Raje. The situation was referred to the police and an FIR was registered.
“As it was a very sensitive case, we took the help of Cyber Security Expert Mukesh Chaudhary who received us touching Twitter head office for the address of the person who used abusive and threatening dialect. We got the address of the accused and he was arrested by making use of Bikaner police, ” said Kunwar Rastradeep, DCP (east), to TOI on Sunday.
The accused, Rajesh Panwar, has been booked under areas 66 and 67D of the IPC. “During the interrogation, the accused said that having been not aware of the effects and explained that this individual got carried away and got into a fight on Twitter, ” said a senior officer.
Older officers said that this could serve as a cautionary tale for folks against publishing abusive Tweets or materials on social networking sites.
